Dow Electric Inc Payroll Assistant in Malone, New York
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately processing payroll and supporting a range of administrative and accounting functions. This role ensures timely and compliant payroll operations, manages employee deductions and benefits, and provides reliable reporting to meet state and federal requirements.
Responsibilities Process weekly payroll with accuracy and timeliness Handle certified payroll and compensation-related tasks Manage accounting and administrative functions related to 401(k), corporate benefits, employee deductions, withholdings, and weekly/quarterly payroll tax remittance and reporting Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding payroll, compensation, and related matters Stay current with NYS and federal regulations and implement required procedural changes Prepare quarterly and annual regulatory compliance reports Generate and distribute annual W-2s for employees and 1099s for contractors Process employee reimbursements Perform additional duties as assigned
Preferred Skills Strong proficiency with payroll software Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Self-motivated with the ability to identify and complete tasks independently High level of accuracy in data entry and financial record management High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or equivalent education preferred 13 years of payroll experience Understanding of general accounting principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements Solid math skills Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively Capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals Customer service and negotiation skills
Physical Demands Ability to lift up to 25 lbs Ability to stand, sit, reach, bend, lift, and work at a computer for up to 8 hours per day Pay: $16.50 - $22.00 per hour
