RESIDENCY (for provisional appointments): Candidates must have been a legal resident of the County of Franklin or a neighboring County (Clinton, Essex, Hamilton and St. Lawrence) for at least 30 days immediately preceding the date of the written test. Local preference in certification may be given per Civil Service Rule VII. Title: Correction Officer Per Diem (PD) or Full-Time (FT), if applicable Base Salary or Hourly:$$45,481(Full-Time) or $21.8657 (PD)hourly rate Department: Sheriffs Minimum Qualifications: The Correction Officer Exam is on a Continuous Recruitment Exam Schedule. Please see the exam announcement on the Countys website for quarterly dates and deadlines. Applicants for this vacancy must also simultaneously apply for the training and experience exam, offered quarterly. A $20.00 exam filing fee is required with application. The resulting exam eligible list will be used to fill vacancies as they exist. If eligible list is exhausted, provisional appointment pending civil service exam may be considered. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: On or before the date of the exam or appointment, to be eligible, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: (Copy of drivers license must accompany application.) Anticipated Eligibility Age & Educational Requirements Per amendment to Civil Service Law, Section 54, which became effective 9/4/24, applicants who are within 12 months of meeting the minimum age or attaining the minimum educational requirements following the date of examination, may take the civil service exam, but will be restricted from canvass and/or certification until such time that the minimum age or educational requirements are met. Proof of educational requirements must be submitted prior to the restriction being removed
