Robert Half Business Manager in Malden, Massachusetts

Description We are looking for a skilled Business Manager to oversee financial operations and ensure compliance with state and federal requirements in Malden, Massachusetts. This role involves managing budgets, supervising accounting staff, and ensuring accurate reporting across various financial functions. The ideal candidate will bring both strategic insight and leadership to maintain financial integrity and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and coordinate year-end financial operations in collaboration with senior leadership.

• Assist in the development, optimization, and implementation of the annual school budget and long-term financial forecasts.

• Supervise, train, and support the growth and attention to detail of accounting staff to enhance team performance.

• Ensure compliance by preparing and submitting required reports to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

• Oversee state and federal reimbursement programs, including school meal and transportation services, ensuring precise reconciliation and reporting.

• Collaborate with school administrators to manage procurement processes while adhering to state laws and internal policies.

• Monitor accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and invoice processing to maintain financial accuracy.

• Conduct journal entries and compliance reporting to support audits and ensure financial transparency.

• Lead efforts in financial audits and ensure all fiscal operations meet regulatory standards.

• Develop and maintain efficient workflows for reporting and reconciliation processes. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; a Master’s degree is preferred.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, with a strong background in financial management.

• Proven ability to lead and develop accounting and financial teams.

• Expertise in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and invoice processing.

• Strong knowledge of compliance reporting and financial audits.

• Familiarity with state and federal financial regulations, especially in education-related programs.

• Experience in preparing budgets and executing long-term financial forecasts.

• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
