Our Madrid team within the Energy and Industrial Automation (E&IA) division is expanding, and we are currently seeking an
Electrical Project Engineer with Quality background (all genders)
In this key position, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the CERE by UL Laboratory Quality System to ensure full compliance with ISO 17025 . You will lead audit readiness, manage external accreditation engagements, and be the central contact point for accreditation bodies. In addition to your quality responsibilities, you will perform engineering projects with your technical expertise—defining project scope, contributing to test program development, and supporting technical investigations. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys combining quality leadership, process optimization, and hands-on technical work.
The role entails:
Quality & Accreditation Leadership
Maintain and optimize the CERE by UL Laboratory Quality System to ensure full compliance with ISO 17025 and ISO 17065
Lead continuous improvement initiatives: monitor KPIs, identify process gaps, and implement corrective & preventive actions
Plan and conduct internal audits according to ISO standards and local regulations
Coordinate and support external accreditation audits—prepare documentation, ensure readiness, and manage resolution of findings
Interface directly with accreditation bodies and collaborate with global Accreditation Services teams
Engineering Project Support
Act as Project Engineer on a selection of engineering projects
Define project scope and develop investigation plans, including cost, samples, and timelines
Create and review test programs, examine samples, and apply relevant UL requirements
Identify non‑conformities, communicate findings to clients, and prepare project documentation and reports
Participate in the development of test methods, requirements, and specialized equipment
Travel as needed to conduct or witness tests at client sites
Profile requirements:
University Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
5+ years of directly related experience
Strong knowledge of quality systems, ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 17065, Lean/Six Sigma, or business excellence models
Proven experience performing internal audits, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions
Good command of technical vocabulary and ability to understanding conformity standards
Experience managing engineering projects, including work with complex or new product types
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross‑functionally (Laboratory/Engineering/Sales)
Fluent in English and Spanish
Willing to travel up to 15%
