Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior SCADA / OT Systems Engineer with deep expertise in SCADA development, deployment, and lifecycle management across FactoryTalk View and Aveva Wonderware platforms. The ideal candidate has strong PLC programming experience, proven leadership in industrial automation architectures, and the ability to drive standardization across multiple plants and vendors.
This role requires a technical leader capable of architecting robust, highly available SCADA solutions while collaborating closely with software, network, and MES teams.
Key Responsibilities
SCADA Architecture & Development
Develop, deploy, and manage SCADA applications using FactoryTalk View and Aveva Wonderware (InTouch & OMI) with experience in the latest 3 major versions.
Lead development and standardization efforts using PlantPAX 4.x or higher, ensuring consistent adoption across plants and vendors.
Design and deploy centrally hosted SCADA architectures with edge redundancy to support high availability requirements.
Configure, test, and validate server redundancy, failover protocols, and distributed architectures in Windows Server environments.
PLC Programming
Serve as a subject matter expert in PLC programming using Allen-Bradley SLC and ControlLogix platforms.
Strong command of multiple IEC 61131-3 languages (Ladder, ST, FBD, SFC).
Standards & Industrial Architecture
Apply deep understanding of ISA‑95 functional layers and handoffs to design integrated OT/IT workflows.
Lead the application of ISA‑88 for batch process control frameworks and modular design principles.
MES, ERP, & Historian Integration
Collaborate closely with MES and ERP teams to ensure seamless data flow and process integration.
Strong understanding of MES ecosystems and how they interact with SCADA, ERP, and peer systems.
Manage, optimize, and distribute historian data—ideally with experience in Aveva PI (OSIsoft PI).
Cross-Functional Coordination
Work with software engineers, network engineers, and platform owners to deliver secure, stable, and scalable automation solutions.
Support multiple concurrent projects, including capital initiatives and technology sustainment.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in industrial automation, SCADA, and PLC development.
Expert-level knowledge in:
FactoryTalk View (SE/ME)
Aveva Wonderware InTouch & OMI
Allen‑Bradley SLC & ControlLogix
PlantPAX 4.x or higher
Strong experience leading SCADA standardization and multi-site deployments.
Proven ability to design & validate Windows Server–based redundancy and failover systems.
Solid understanding of ISA‑95 and ISA‑88 frameworks.
Deep working knowledge of MES ecosystems and historian platforms (Aveva PI strongly preferred).
Soft Skills
Ability to mentor and guide junior developers on best practices and standards.
Strong project planning capability with an understanding of complexity, resource needs, and parallel project execution.
High adaptability and desire to learn modern technologies as stacks evolve and legacy systems phase out.
Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $120,000 – $130,000 (commensurate with experience)
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on individual performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
