Actalent Mechanical Designer in Madison Heights, Michigan

Job Title: Mechanical DesignerJob Description

Join our dynamic team as a Mechanical Designer, where you will play a crucial role in designing and building a robotic cell. This exciting opportunity involves working closely with a controls engineer on projects that span approximately 18 weeks, with the potential for further projects thereafter. You will be tasked with mechanical design responsibilities, including 3D CAD, fixture design, end-of-arm tooling, and conveyance systems.

Responsibilities

  • Create concept layouts (2D / light 3D) for robotic cells and material handling systems.

  • Identify mechanical risks, constraints, and assumptions for quoting.

  • Support feasibility studies, ROM estimates, and design reviews.

  • Collaborate with build teams to ensure designs are execution-ready.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in Unigraphics NX (UGNX).

  • 3+ years of experience in tooling design.

  • 3+ years of experience in end-of-arm tooling and fixture design.

  • 5 years of experience with mechanical tooling design.

  • 5 years of experience with UGNX.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience working on Ford projects.

  • Experience in tooling simulation.

Work Environment

This position offers an office environment where you will be one of the first in-house hires, providing an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our business. With a shop located in the back, you will also engage in some builds and commissioning activities, allowing for a hands-on approach to your work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison Heights, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
