Job Description Summary
The Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member’s suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.
Job Description
Product quality review associated with the manufacturing process. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
Individuals selected for this internship will have the responsibility and authority to carry out all assigned tasks
Roles and Responsibilities
Shop Facing Manufacturing Quality Engineer
Analyzes disruption drivers in manufacturing process, collaborate with peers to address them.
Established inspection and control plans for sheet metal fabricated jet engine components.
Reviews Material Review Board (MRB) tickets for adherence to internal standards
Use statistical methods to analyze capability of existing and in-coming processes. Generate appropriate characteristic control plans based on capability.
Leads improvement methods when it comes to inspection techniques (new technology, training, etc.)
Determine root cause and implement corrective actions
Communicate across direct organization, horizontally and vertically
Owns overall state of quality within the manufacturing cell.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues
Required Qualifications
Active Military personnel on their last 180 days before separating from Military Service.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years manufacturing experience) + 3 years manufacturing experience

Desired Characteristics
Sheetmetal fabrication experience (die forming & punch press processes)
Experience with recognized problem solving tools (5Why, Fishbone Diagram, Problem Solving Reports, etc.)
Production Part Approval Process (PPAP experience)
Experience with Process Failure Mode Element Analysis (PFMEA)
Demonstrated Project Management Skills
Experience or Exposure to AS9100, NADCAP, or equivalent 3rd part industry audits
Experience with First Article Inspection and management
Exposure to AS13100 (APQP requirements)
Exposure to statistical process control (SPC) and alternate inspection frequency in manufacturing shop
Exposure to Special Processes and controls
Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed
