Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerJob Description
The Mechanical Engineer will lead design efforts for key refrigeration components and systems used in cold storage warehouses. This role involves working cross-functionally with fabrication, construction, and procurement teams to ensure high-performance, compliant, and efficient system designs.
Responsibilities
Lead the design of mechanical rooms, rooftop penthouses, piping systems, and other refrigeration components.
Perform advanced engineering calculations including thermal analysis, tolerance dimensions, and structural evaluations.
Ensure all designs comply with company, client, and regulatory standards.
Submit detailed drawings for review and coordinate with upper management and build teams.
Provide on-site and remote technical support during system installation.
Generate Bills of Materials (BOM) and input specifications into the ERP system.
Collaborate with fabrication teams, providing detailed guidance to ensure build accuracy.
Coordinate with purchasing to ensure materials are specified and ordered correctly.
Communicate with vendors regarding part specifications and manufacturing requirements.
Occasionally mentor junior engineers and share best practices.
Essential Skills
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
2–5 years of experience in mechanical system design.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with SolidWorks.
Strong grasp of mechanical and refrigeration engineering principles.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Occasional travel to job sites may be required.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
Occasionally may need to lift or carry items up to 25 pounds.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in sheet metal and pipe fabrication.
EIT License.
Interest in pursuing a PE license.
Prior experience with refrigeration systems, HVAC, or MEP design.
Expertise in ammonia and CO2-based refrigeration systems, with a deep understanding of relevant safety and environmental regulations.
Professional Engineering License.

The position is based at the headquarters in Lyndhurst, which has approximately 380 employees, including 80 engineers and 120 operations staff. The company has doubled in size over the last 5 years and specializes in designing, fabricating, and installing customized, turn-key industrial refrigeration systems. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
