Job Title: Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Structural Engineer who has completed all duties and responsibilities of an Engineer I. The ideal candidate will independently perform most assignments with limited direction, preparing structural calculations and designs for projects involving multiple construction materials. They will collaborate with the design/drafting team to produce structural drawings and support project success by meeting schedules and maintaining budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare structural calculations and designs for projects involving multiple construction materials.

  • Collaborate with the design/drafting team to produce structural drawings.

  • Support team in ensuring project success by meeting schedules and maintaining budgets.

  • Develop and evaluate options for complex structural engineering problems and implement solutions.

  • Apply structural design techniques, tools, and principles to produce or modify project drawings, specifications, and calculations.

  • Redline drawings created by design/drafting team or provided by client, and work with Engineering Team Manager on custom calculations and details for assigned projects.

  • Solve complex engineering problems using experience, judgment, and education.

  • Perform out of town, independent site visits as needed to address existing conditions and/or conformance to design drawings.

  • Actively work toward obtaining P.E. license if not already obtained.

  • Act in a professional manner, exemplifying core values and mission statement.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of structural engineering experience for buildings.

  • Experience with several different building types and at least 2-3 different types of building materials.

  • Ability to speak with clients, respond to RFIs, and attend/run kickoff calls.

  • Ability to mentor junior staff.

  • Proficiency in Structure, AutoCAD, Structural engineering, Design, Structural design, Drafting, Risa 3D, Structural steel, Professional engineer, Structural analysis, Calculations, Concrete, Steel structure, Construction document, Detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time direct industry experience in the U.S.

  • Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or Engineer Intern (E.I.) is required, P.E. preferred.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil or structural engineering is required.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid design conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Proficient in engineering design software and equipment to prepare engineering calculations and design documents.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to produce high-quality technical reports, letters, and other project correspondence.

Work Environment

This role is based in a growing firm with offices in Boise, Idaho, Bozeman, Montana, and Lyndhurst, NJ. The Lyndhurst office is small but expanding, with plans for further growth. The culture is relaxed, with a focus on teamwork and professional development. Employees rarely work over 40 hours per week, emphasizing a strong work/life balance. After six months, a hybrid schedule is available, allowing for two remote work days per week. The company provides 100% paid medical benefits and quarterly bonuses. This is a Permanent position based out of Lyndhurst, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
