Position Overview:
BWXT is currently seeking a Senior Cyber Security Analyst specializing in SOC tier 3 and red team operations that will report to the Cyber Security Operations Manager. The successful candidate will focus on proactive security by threat hunting, conducting advanced penetration testing, and managing incident preparation efforts. This position requires strong technical capabilities, a questioning and challenging attitude, and the ability to build positive working relationships among a large cross-functional team.

Your Day to Day as a Senior Cyber Security Operations Center Analyst:
Conduct thorough security assessments, red team exercises, and penetration tests to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate risks effectively.
Monitor threat intelligence sources, evaluate security weaknesses, and apply industry best practices to recommend proactive system hardening and risk mitigation strategies.
Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of security solutions for red team engagements and SOC operations, including IDS, advanced threat protection, and EDR systems.
Utilize SIEM tools to detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents efficiently.
Mentor and guide the team to enhance security operations and streamline incident response processes.
Assist with security risk assessments to establish baseline configurations for technology platforms and applications before deployment.
Employ vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools to identify, prioritize, and validate remediation of security gaps.
Serve as the escalation point for complex incidents unresolved by first- and second-level analysts.
Actively participate in the Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT), coordinating response efforts and guiding first responders during escalated incidents.
Author and maintain technical documentation related to deployment, configuration, and management of security systems.
Stay current with emerging cybersecurity trends and technologies through conferences, workshops, and professional development.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT and cybersecurity, with a focus on advanced incident response, threat hunting, and red team operations.
Extensive hands-on experience in penetration testing and red teaming, including exploitation methods, post-exploitation techniques, and reporting findings with remediation strategies.
Advanced proficiency with cybersecurity tools and technologies, including:
Microsoft 365 Security Suite (Defender, Sentinel, Intune)
Network security tools (IDS, next-generation firewalls, SIEM systems)
Advanced endpoint protection (EDR, XDR)
Vulnerability assessment tools
Malware analysis and reverse engineering
Proven leadership in managing security incident response, coordinating cross-functional teams to mitigate threats and conduct forensic analysis.
Strong knowledge and practical application of the MITRE ATT&CK framework for attack simulation, vulnerability assessment, and threat modeling.
In-depth experience configuring and managing both open-source and commercial cybersecurity tools for threat detection, prevention, and analysis.
Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
Experience with breach and attack simulation (BAS) and secure access service edge (SASE) solutions.
Strong ability to produce detailed incident reports and communicate complex technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Skilled in training, mentoring, and supporting team members on advanced cybersecurity concepts, red teaming, and emerging threats.
Possession of one or more relevant certifications such as GSEC, CEH, CISSP, CISA, GCIH, OSCP, OSCE, or equivalent, with a strong preference for offensive security credentials.
Willingness and flexibility to participate in an on-call rotation for security incident response, including after-hours availability as needed.

The base salary range for this position in [[stateProvince]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[custsalaryMin]] and $[[custsalaryMax]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
