Summary
This individual will prep heavy equipment and parts for paint.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces, per specifications, prior to painting
Clean all surfaces to ensure proper adherence
Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection
Fill cracks, holes, and joints per specifications
Erect scaffolding, movable, and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas
Work on ladders to reach top of tall equipment
Tape off areas when needed
Clean up all equipment
Required Skills and Qualifications
Must be able to troubleshoot problems
Candidate must work well with others
Requires strong attention to detail in department processes and procedures
Requires the ability to comprehend and follow written work instructions
Possess knowledge of and ability to identify fabrication industry metals
Strong orientation towards quality, safety and continual improvement.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Two plus years of related automotive or vocational truck operation and maintenance experience
Strong communication skills
Proven commitment to Safety
Working Conditions
Majority of work is performed in a shop and outside
Must be able to work while exposed to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or other fumes
Must be able to work overtime as needed
Physical Requirements
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing on ladders and platforms of heights above 42”, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling throughout a 10-hour day, and up to 50 hours per week
Must be able to safely operate carts, forklifts, hand trucks, and other equipment of such nature
Ability to walk and stand on concrete and/or uneven surfaces for at least 10 hours per day
