Job Title: Quality Inspector

Job Description

The Quality Inspector is responsible for conducting first piece, in-process, and final inspections of precision hydraulic valve spools and related components to ensure adherence to customer and internal specifications. The role involves using various precision measuring instruments and following established procedures to verify product quality, document results, and support production in maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections on hydraulic valve spools using micrometers, calipers, air gages, comparators, Keyence, and other precision measuring equipment.

  • Verify product compliance with engineering drawings, bubble prints, process sheets, and customer specifications.

  • Document inspection results according to company quality procedures and maintain accurate inspection records.

  • Identify and report nonconformances, assist in root cause investigation, and support corrective action activities.

  • Conduct receiving inspection of outsourced processes as required.

  • Help maintain calibration by being aware of inspection tools and notifying supervisors of out-of-tolerance conditions.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the inspection area per 5S standards.

  • Communicate effectively with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve inspection or process issues.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and inspection efficiency.

Essential Skills

  • One (1) year of quality inspection or machining experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

  • Proficiency in the use of precision measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, comparators, gages).

  • Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and documentation methods.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and bubble prints.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • One (1) year of quality inspection or machining experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Work Environment

This role operates within a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, oils, coolants, and moving machinery. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and closed-toed shoes, is required. The position may involve overtime and flexible scheduling based on production needs. Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching, as well as the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity is required for handling small precision tools and components.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
