Job Title: Grinder Operator Job Description
This full-time, on-site role requires a dedicated professional to manage and operate manual ID/OD grinding machines and oversee all grinding operations within the department. The role demands ensuring production meets or exceeds quality standards while aligning with customer specifications.
Responsibilities
Supervise team members and oversee grinding operations.
Run various grinding machines and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Maintain equipment and provide technical support to staff.
Coordinate with other departments to manage workflow and deliver projects on time.
Ensure production meets or exceeds quality standards.
Perform close tolerance work and apply shop mathematical concepts.
Measure finished ground components using manual inspection tools.
Essential Skills
Experience in ID/OD grinding techniques and familiarity with precision machining processes.
Proficiency in using manufacturing tools, machinery, and gauges.
Knowledge of quality assurance practices, including in-process control, machine capability studies, and final inspection reporting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage teams effectively.
In-depth knowledge of the precision grinding process including wheel selection and offsets.
Understanding of systems such as Kanban processes, JIT production, and ISO 9001/2008 standards.
Problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose issues and implement solutions.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Strong safety awareness and ability to manage compliance with safety protocols.
Relevant technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent experience is preferred.

Work Environment
Work in a climate-controlled environment with a 1st shift schedule from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
