Aerotek Grinder Operator in Loves Park, Illinois

Job Title: Grinder Operator Job Description

This full-time, on-site role requires a dedicated professional to manage and operate manual ID/OD grinding machines and oversee all grinding operations within the department. The role demands ensuring production meets or exceeds quality standards while aligning with customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise team members and oversee grinding operations.

  • Run various grinding machines and ensure compliance with safety protocols.

  • Maintain equipment and provide technical support to staff.

  • Coordinate with other departments to manage workflow and deliver projects on time.

  • Ensure production meets or exceeds quality standards.

  • Perform close tolerance work and apply shop mathematical concepts.

  • Measure finished ground components using manual inspection tools.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in ID/OD grinding techniques and familiarity with precision machining processes.

  • Proficiency in using manufacturing tools, machinery, and gauges.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices, including in-process control, machine capability studies, and final inspection reporting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage teams effectively.

  • In-depth knowledge of the precision grinding process including wheel selection and offsets.

  • Understanding of systems such as Kanban processes, JIT production, and ISO 9001/2008 standards.

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose issues and implement solutions.

  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

  • Strong safety awareness and ability to manage compliance with safety protocols.

  • Relevant technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent experience is preferred.

Work Environment

Work in a climate-controlled environment with a 1st shift schedule from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
