Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking experienced CNC Machinists adept at setting up both mills and lathes. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating 1-2 machines at a time, with the potential to manage 2-3 machines once fully trained. You will interpret work orders and blueprints to ensure precise measurements and quantities are met, and you will edit programs and perform changeovers for new orders in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines, including Doosan and Haas models.

  • Work from blueprints and set up paperwork to position and secure tools and workpieces.

  • Adjust machine controls to set specified speeds, feed rates, and depths of cuts.

  • Conduct first-piece inspections and verify conformance of machined workpieces to specifications.

  • Perform changeovers and make autonomous maintenance adjustments to machinery and fluid levels.

  • Record daily production and return all set up material and paperwork to proper areas.

  • Ensure quality parts through periodic inspections and assist new operators with set up.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the machine and work area.

  • Contact Team or Group Leader if issues arise during setup or operation.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with CNC machine setup and operation, particularly with mills and lathes.

  • Proficient in reading blueprints and assembling parts according to specifications.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical inspection tools, micrometers, and calipers.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and make necessary adjustments during operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of CNC setup and operating experience required.

  • Certification in CNC preferred; willingness to train the right candidates with certification.

  • Applied knowledge of manufacturing quality, hand tools, and power tools.

  • Willingness to cross-train in other areas of the plant as required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
