Job Title: Assembly Technician

Job Description

The Assembly Technician uses detailed assembly instructions, blueprints, and hand and power tools to build mechanical and electrical components and subassemblies to precise specifications. This role focuses on accurate measurement, correct fit, and quality verification, while offering opportunities for wage growth, a sign-on bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, parts lists, and schematics to understand build requirements.

  • Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices to assemble mechanical and electrical components and subassemblies.

  • Position parts and subassemblies accurately by using templates or reading and taking precise measurements.

  • Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit and securely fastening parts and subassemblies.

  • Verify that completed components meet specifications by measuring and inspecting finished work.

  • Identify and resolve assembly problems by adjusting or altering dimensions within defined specifications and escalate issues when additional resources are needed.

  • Maintain a high standard of quality and accuracy throughout the assembly process.

  • Contribute to team goals by completing assigned tasks efficiently and supporting production targets.

  • Cross-train in all areas of assembly to build versatility and support workload needs across the department.

  • Assist and collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure smooth workflow and on-time delivery.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how mechanical and electrical components fit and function together.

  • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in mechanical and electrical assembly.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly instructions, parts lists, and electrical schematics.

  • Skilled in using tape measures and other measuring tools to take accurate measurements.

  • Experience with mechanical assembly, including positioning, fastening, and inspecting components.

  • Experience with electrical assembly tasks such as basic wiring and building electrical subassemblies.

  • Ability to stand constantly during the shift and lift up to 50 pounds safely.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting specifications and quality standards.

  • Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve assembly issues within defined guidelines.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate issues or needs promptly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in production, manufacturing, construction, or a similar hands-on environment.

  • Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical components in a clean, organized setting.

  • Willingness to cross-train in multiple assembly areas and support other departments as needed.

  • Ability to follow standardized work processes while adapting to changing priorities.

  • Reliability and punctuality for consistent first-shift work hours.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very clean production facility that emphasizes safety, organization, and efficient workflow. The standard schedule is a first-shift, four-day workweek from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with Friday work available at a premium shift rate. Work is hands-on and performed on your feet for most of the shift, with frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds. You will regularly use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and work from blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
