Definition: Under the supervision of the Division Supervisor, performs general unskilled manual work and related tasks within the Public Works Department.
Equipment/Location: The employee will operate a variety of basic equipment including but not limited to vehicles, lawn maintenance tools, power tools, computers and phones. The employee will work inside and outside with the possibility of being exposed to adverse weather conditions.
Position Functions:
?[ ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif"=""}Performs manual labor including, but not limited to, digging ditches, cleaning and installing culverts, cutting brush, removing obstacles from roadways and adjacent areas
?[ ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif"=""}Performs manual labor connected with roadway maintenance, including but not limited to asphalt repairs, snow removal, storm sewer repair, barricade and event setups
?[ ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif"=""}Perform routine park maintenance including but not limited to cutting grass, trimming grass, bushes and trees, field maintenance, emptying trash cans, maintaining playgrounds, pavilions, and maintaining city owned properties/facilities
?[ ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif"=""}Perform manual labor including, but not limited to, water and sewer plant facility maintenance, lab work, repairing water and sewer lines, and field work orders
?[ ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif"=""}Prepare necessary forms and reports
?[ ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif"=""}Maintain assigned equipment and vehicles
?[ ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif"=""}Communicate job conditions and needs to management
?[ ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif"=""}Perform related duties as assigned
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
?[ ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif"=""}Ability to work with little or no direct supervision
?[ ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif"=""}Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with co-workers and the public
?[ ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif"=""}Ability to operate vehicle transporting trailers and equipment
?[ ]{times="" new="" roman",="" times,="" serif"=""}On a continuous basis, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, and reach while performing maintenance and/or construction activities; perform manual labor; the ability to lift up to 75 pounds
