PPL Corporation Transmission Project Development Portfolio Management Specialist Sr or Lead in Louisville, Kentucky

Overview

This position supports the analysis and solving of complex business process and technical problems with a focus of improving operational effectiveness associated with major electric transmission capital projects. The role ensures accurate financial reporting and portfolio-level financial performance, working closely with engineering, construction, and project management teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Individual displays an understanding of the company budget process and a high degree of skill and competency in one or more areas of expertise and requires minimal direction from the Manager.

• Coordinate development of business cases and investment proposals for submission and spend authorization approvals.

• Collaborate with Transmission Project Development, Project Management, Construction, and Engineering teams to ensure project budgets are aligned with scope and yearly cash flows.

• Analyze portfolio performance and recommend project adjustments for projects in development phase to meet overall portfolio targets.

• Review and identify projects in the portfolio for potential redundancy and efficiency opportunities.

• Support the documentation of project cost estimates for upcoming capital projects with an emphasis on expenditure types, project duration, and cashflows.

• Work closely with Supply Chain and other support organizations to develop, issue, and execute service contracts to support Project Development needs.

• Coordinate monthly departmental efforts to support capital forecasts, budget variances and accruals on all Projects in Project Development.

• In coordination with Budgeting and Accounting, utilize PowerPlan to early open projects to allow for long lead time material orders and preliminary engineering services.

• Complete financial breakdown of recently completed, large capital projects into “As Built” estimate sheets so they can be utilized in development future project estimates.

• Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and audit requirements.

• Facilitate Transmission Accountability Meeting (TAM) by assisting and coordinating submittals with Transmission Project Managers.

• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years experience with program or project management which may include budgeting, requisitions and approvals, project control management, and/or performance reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Utility program or project management experience preferred.

  • Proficient in business writing skills, and ability to build relationships and consensus across departmental and/or company boundaries.

  • Strong Excel and financial systems skills (e.g., PowerPlan, Oracle, SAP).

Education & Experience
