Robert Half Staff Accountant in Los Angeles, California

Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California. This is a long-term contract position ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys problem-solving within the accounting field. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits, and offers the opportunity to contribute to ongoing system improvements.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and manage corporate tax returns and sales tax filings in compliance with local and federal regulations.

• Perform detailed journal entries and maintain accurate records within the general ledger.

• Assist with audits, including preparing documentation and supporting the audit process.

• Contribute to the implementation and optimization of Sage Intacct, ensuring seamless integration with current systems.

• Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.

• Collaborate with internal teams to support accounting processes and ensure adherence to organizational policies.

• Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing financial transactions.

• Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely reporting.

• Research and apply applicable tax laws to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

• Provide insights and recommendations to improve accounting workflows and efficiencies. Requirements • A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably within a public accounting or non-profit setting.

• Familiarity with corporate and sales tax regulations and processes.

• Proficient in using Sage Intacct or similar accounting software.

• Strong understanding of general ledger maintenance and journal entries.

• Experience with audit processes, including preparation and documentation.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about accounting workflows.

• Efficient and eager to learn, with the ability to adapt to high-pressure situations.

• Solid grasp of accounting fundamentals, including debits and credits.
