Major Purpose:
The Maintenance Shop Manager is responsible for the maintenance and management of fleet equipment at two facilities and leading a team of technicians who are responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair of a fleet of up to 60 powered vehicles. The Manager will see that all repairs and maintenance to Savage’s equipment including tractors, trailers, sweepers, and other equipment is performed according to the Company’s safety and maintenance standards, and in compliance with all federal and state regulations.
Requirements/Qualifications
Interface with internal leadership, direct reports, external vendors and other team members
Develop ideas and solutions to maintenance issues
Ability to diagnose, problem solve and execute plans
Computer and internet savvy including the Microsoft Office Suite
Possess a strong record of continuous improvement, personal development and attention to detail are absolute requirements
Education/Experience:
Five (5) years experience working in diesel mechanics and transportation industry
Three (3) years in a maintenance supervisory role
Experience applying safety regulations and written procedures within a refinery or chemical plant
Bachelor Degree preferred
Physical Requirements:
This Manager will be on their feet for extended period of time and walk long distances throughout the day
Assist technicians and mechanics in performing various maintenance and repair duties
Because we are a 24/7 operation, the manager may be called out at night to assist with critical service problems
Occasional travel to Northern California
Must be comfortable working in an office environment at times, working with a computer and sitting for longer periods of time
