Overview

Schedule: 3/12 Hour shifts per week, 7pm - 7am with variable days of the week including weekends and holidays

Purpose Statement/Position Summary

The Registered Nurse, under general supervision, conducts patient assessments, participates in the development of the plan of care, implements and evaluates care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Employee will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.

The Operating Room (OR) is a 15 surgical operating room unit that provides 24/7 surgical care to children of all ages (neonate to adult) who are to undergo general anesthesia for operative or other invasive procedures, with an estimated surgical case volume of 17,000 surgical cases a year. We work with the following specialty groups to provide care: Anesthesiology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Cardiothoracic surgery, Dentistry, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, General pediatric surgery/Abdominal Transplant, Hematology/Oncology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Maxillofacial surgery, Pulmonology, and Urology.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience

1+ year experience as an Operating Room RN. Pediatric experience preferred. Broad knowledge of patient care principles and equipment; CHLA patient care policies and procedures. Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.

Education/Licensure/Certification

Associate Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California and American Heart Association CPR/BLS/PALS certification required.

Pay Scale Information

USD $104,395.00 - USD $171,506.00
