University of Southern California MESA Program Coordinator in Los Angeles, California

The MESA Program Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of student engagement and academic support services for the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) programs within the USC Viterbi K-12 STEM Center. The position plays a critical role in meeting grant-funded obligations related to student participation, outreach, and academic outcomes across both pre-college and undergraduate programs.

This role supports two primary program areas: the MESA College Prep Program, which serves middle and high school students across the Greater Los Angeles area, and the MESA University Program, which supports USC undergraduate engineering students who previously participated in MESA, TRIO, NAI, or Bovard Scholars programs. The position provides programmatic, operational, and administrative support to ensure compliance with sponsor expectations and continuity of student services.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Program Operations & Student Engagement • Support day-to-day operations of the MESA College Prep and MESA University programs in alignment with grant objectives and timelines. • Coordinate and support academic enrichment, outreach, and student support activities, including workshops, events, and intervention programs. • Assist with outreach and engagement activities for K–12 partner schools and USC undergraduate students. • Serve as a point of contact for students, school partners, and campus stakeholders regarding program activities and resources. Program Administration & Grant Support • Track student participation, services delivered, and program outcomes to support grant reporting and sponsor requirements. • Maintain accurate program records, documentation, and schedules. • Assist with basic budget tracking and documentation in accordance with grant guidelines. • Support the STEM Center Director in meeting sponsor deliverables and reporting obligations. Coordination & Collaboration • Coordinate logistics for events, workshops, mentoring activities, and academic support initiatives. • Support student-focused initiatives such as math intervention programming and peer mentoring.

• Collaborate with internal USC partners and external school sites to ensure effective program delivery. Other duties may be assigned. This position is expected to respond flexibly to evolving programmatic, operational, and grant-compliance needs to ensure continuity of MESA services and fulfillment of sponsor commitments.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS & TEAM STRUCTURE • Reports to: K-12 STEM Center Director • Supervises: May coordinate student workers or peer mentors as assigned. FIXED-TERM EMPLOYMENT This is a fixed term position with an 8-month term with an anticipated Start Date of March 1, 2026 and an anticipated End Date of October 31, 2026 . Employees hired under a fixed-term agreement acknowledge that the university may change the expected end date at any time by providing a one (1) month written notification. Employment may also end for other reasons consistent with university policy. According to university policy, no severance benefits are paid to employees hired under a fixed term agreement. When you leave, your final paycheck will include pay for days worked, and for accrued and unused vacation. The university does not pay for accrued and unused sick days upon termination. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The hour salary range for this exempt position is $32.43 – $36.40. This position is fully onsite with no remote work flexibility. This position is designated as a Mandated Reporter under California law and USC policy.
