JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Facilities Engineer in our Los Angeles office works independently or as an assistant under the guidance and direction of the Manager, Chief Engineer, or Supervisor. This role is responsible for performing inspection, operations, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of building systems to ensure optimal facility performance and occupant comfort.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Building Comfort & Systems Management
- Maintain ownership of building comfort and provide ongoing attention to Building Automation System (BAS)
Advanced Troubleshooting & Repairs
Identify and provide solutions to complex problems
Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs of equipment
Troubleshoot major building systems using advanced knowledge
Safety Compliance
Complete Safety Certification and all assigned safety training
Adhere to and follow all safety requirements
Project Management
Act as project manager for small projects and repairs
Serve as point of contact (POC) for vendors with regular progress updates
Proactively complete all assigned projects including updates and closeout packages
Leadership
May act as shift lead as assigned
Work collaboratively with other engineers in installing, operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Distribution Systems
- Maintain main and branch power distribution panels, emergency generators, UPS systems, transfer switches, load banks, transformers, motor controllers, contractors, breakers, relays, sensors, switches, conduits, and wiring
Environmental Control Systems
- Service boilers, chillers, AC units, humidifiers, compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans, pumps, piping, motors, electric and pneumatic controls, valves, variable frequency drives, PLCs, building automation systems, and related equipment for heated, chilled, domestic, or processed water and air distribution
Specialty Building Systems
- Maintain fire/life safety systems, access control, fire suppression, kitchen equipment, mail conveyor, currency residue transport/compaction, and fuel filtering and delivery systems
Vendor & Project Support
Assist service vendors and support construction projects
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Facility Standards
- Set expectations for cleanliness in all work areas including electrical and mechanical spaces, building services shops, cubicles, and storage locations
Service & Support
Respond to employee and building staff needs through service requests and project assignments
Perform temperature adjustments, calibrations, light and plumbing fixture repairs, electrical circuit modifications, carpet tile installation, and lock/door hardware maintenance
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience
- Typically, 8+ years of related facilities/building maintenance experience
Certifications
Completion of Safety Certification required
Trade certifications preferred but not required
Other specific certifications as required on Skill Assessment Matrix
Technical Knowledge & Abilities
Broad expertise in a wide variety of industry concepts, practices, procedures, and system applications
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and schematics
Basic to intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite (email, Word, Excel)
Understanding and operation of Building Automation Systems (e.g., Metasys, Automated Logic)
Ability to work around operating machinery with electrical components and moving parts with a high degree of concentration
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to work around operating machinery with electrical components and moving parts

Base Salary Range: Min: $84,900 - Mid: $110,300 - Max: $135,700 (Location: Los Angeles)
Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographic and other market data.
