Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks within a hospital environment, with a focus on painting, patching, basic plumbing, and minor electrical work. This role supports the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the facility by conducting daily walkthroughs, completing preventative maintenance, and addressing minor repairs as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily walkthroughs of hospital grounds and buildings to identify functional issues, detect malfunctions, and note needed repairs.

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks and document any repairs or issues observed within the facility.

  • Perform minor electrical maintenance, including replacing lightbulbs and removing or installing general light fixtures.

  • Perform minor plumbing maintenance, such as repairing or replacing leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging drains, and replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices.

  • Carry out minor building repair duties, including adjusting doors, fitting locks and handles, and completing basic patching and painting tasks.

  • Reconfigure, install, position, and remount office furniture and related items, such as furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, and file cabinets, using various hand tools to accommodate user needs and maximize office space.

  • Order parts and supplies needed for maintenance and repair work and maintain required documentation and records.

  • Use hand tools and basic maintenance equipment safely and effectively while working in a hospital facility.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned to support the overall upkeep and functionality of the building.

Essential Skills

  • 1–2 years of experience as a maintenance helper, facilities technician, or in a similar maintenance role.

  • Hands-on experience with building maintenance, including basic painting and patching.

  • Ability to perform minor electrical maintenance, such as replacing lightbulbs and installing or removing general light fixtures.

  • Ability to perform minor plumbing maintenance, including repairing or replacing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing drain hoses.

  • General facility maintenance experience in environments such as hospitals or similar buildings.

  • Proficiency with common hand tools used for maintenance, repair, and furniture reconfiguration.

  • Ability to conduct preventative maintenance and accurately document findings and completed work.

  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting facilities and identifying needed repairs.

  • Capability to safely lift, move, and position furniture and equipment as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a hospital facility or healthcare environment.

  • Experience in handyman or general repair work across multiple trades.

  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and basic maintenance recordkeeping.

  • Comfort working both independently and as part of a facilities team.

  • Organizational skills to manage multiple maintenance tasks and prioritize work orders effectively.

Work Environment

The role is based in a hospital facility that provides mental health treatment and related care. The environment involves regular use of hand tools and basic maintenance equipment, frequent walking during daily rounds, and physical activity such as lifting, moving, and reconfiguring furniture. Work is performed indoors with occasional work in outdoor areas as needed to support facility operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA 90026.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
