What You Will Do
The Security Systems (SO-SS) Performance Tester is responsible for conducting performance tests at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This position provides is responsible for managing daily physical security activities to ensure facilities across the Laboratory are properly protected.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Computer and Information Security Technician 2 ($54,900 - $84,300)
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with facility representatives and stakeholders to support the safety, reliability, and security of laboratory security equipment.
Ability to document, maintain, and report testing results accurately and in a timely manner.
Experience conducting validation testing following corrective actions to ensure proper system functionality and compliance.
Working knowledge of the Laboratory's security, policies, practices and procedures.
Additional Job Requirements for Computer and Information Security Technician 3 ($60,500 - $93,600)
Experience performing routine performance testing on security systems to evaluate operational effectiveness.
Experience in performing security evaluations and risk assessments, technical security, and physical security inspections for existing facilities and new construction.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound technical judgment, and provide guidance or technical direction to lower-level technicians as needed.
Education/Experience at Computer and Information Security Technician 2 level : Position requires a high school diploma and 1-2 years directly related experience.
Education/Experience at Computer and Information Security Technician 3 level : Position requires a high school diploma and 2-4 years previous experience gained through training in specific field of technology. Technical institute graduate or Associate's degree may be preferred.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of ICD/ISC-705 SCIF alarm testing methodology.
Basic knowledge of Interior Intrusion System (IDS) and the Perimeter Intrusion Detection Alarm System (PIDAS).
Knowledge of Security Areas physical protection requirements.
Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation) : This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in uneven and rocky terrain, crawl in confined or rugged spaces, and perform movements such as squatting or duck walking as needed to complete job tasks safely and effectively.
Work Environment:
Work Environment: This position requires the ability to perform on-call duties on a rotation basis. Must be able to respond within 2 hours of notification. Minimal travel is anticipated but may be required for training purposes.
Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position Commitment : Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 2 years.

Clearance : Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements : To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test : The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular Position : Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants : Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
