Los Alamos National Laboratory Programmatic Maintenance Team Leader (Manufacturing Manager 1) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
Sigma-Ops is comprised of five integrated teams - Programmatic Project Management, Cyber and Physical Security, Nuclear Materials Management, Integrated Support Services, and Programmatic Maintenance Support - and is charged with ensuring that the mission-critical capabilities of Sigma Division operate seamlessly in support of the nation's nuclear deterrent mission.
The team leader for the Programmatic Maintenance team (PMT), is responsible for overseeing corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance of programmatically owned equipment. This role leads the planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance work to ensure equipment reliability and availability in support of mission deliverables. The team leader coordinates closely with group management to prioritize work, manage maintenance backlogs, and minimize downtime. They ensure maintenance activities are performed safely and in compliance with Integrated Safety Management principles, facility requirements, and quality standards. The position also drives continuous improvement in maintenance processes, workforce performance, and equipment reliability. Through strong leadership and disciplined execution, this role ensures effective maintenance support in a complex, high-consequence environment.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in equipment maintenance and/or manufacturing operations, including corrective and preventive maintenance of equipment and systems in an operational environment.
Working knowledge of equipment lifecycle management, maintenance practices, and operational support in production or high-reliability settings.
Experience planning, prioritizing, scheduling, and executing equipment maintenance work.
Ability to ensure timely and efficient execution of maintenance activities while minimizing impacts to mission deliverables.
Familiarity with work control processes, including backlog management, scheduling tools, and maintenance planning systems.
Proven ability to manage and perform work in complex, high-consequence environments involving multiple hazards, including radiological, beryllium (Be), safety, and security requirements.
Experience leading or supervising equipment maintenance or multidisciplinary teams, including both technical and non-technical personnel.
Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying and correcting performance gaps.
Demonstrated ability to manage execution of maintenance work, track performance, and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's degree and 1 year of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working with LANL-specific policies and procedures
Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or similar tools for work control, planning, scheduling, and backlog management.
Experience with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and equipment health monitoring.
Active Q clearance
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
