Summary This position is part of the Office of Environmental Management - Los Alamos Field Office, Department of Energy. As a Program Manager, you will serve as the Director of the Office of Clean Up Execution (OCX). This position leads all operational oversight. Veterans shape the future of energy As a Program Manager, you will: Direct the overall planning, execution, and oversight of environmental cleanup programs, establishing measurable objectives and ensuring alignment with national strategic priorities. Lead and mentor federal and contract professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring effective individual and team contributions towards program goals. Negotiate to secure necessary resources, gain compliance with regulatory requirements, and resolve significant programmatic issues. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies for program operations, identifying potential financial, technical, and regulatory risks and establishing contingency plans. Advise senior leadership on long-range program goals, policy development, and critical resource requirements, integrating innovative approaches and best practices to enhance overall program effectiveness and efficiency. Establish and maintain rigorous performance standards for all program activities and contractor work, systematically tracking progress, evaluating outcomes, and holding all parties responsible for achieved results. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Oversees the planning, development, and implementation of environmental cleanup programs and initiatives. Provides expert advice and recommendations on program operations, policies, and strategic objectives. Manages and evaluates program resources, staffing, funding, and equipment, to ensure efficient and effective operations. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
