Los Alamos National Laboratory Operations Support Specialist 2 in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
Sigma-Ops is comprised of five integrated teams - Programmatic Project Management, Cyber and Physical Security, Nuclear Materials Management, Integrated Support Services, and Programmatic Maintenance Support - and is charged with ensuring that the mission-critical capabilities of Sigma Division operate seamlessly in support of the nation's nuclear deterrent mission. The Operations Support Specialist position will directly support the Programmatic Maintenance Support team in executing these objectives.
The selected candidate will be expected to assist with the planning and scheduling of programmatic maintenance activities, including ordering and tracking critical parts required for maintenance actions. They will maintain programmatic maintenance protocols within the Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) and ensure that all activities follow active safety and security documentation. The role involves communicating maintenance intervals and priorities to team members, coordinating the logistics of maintenance efforts, and performing data entry and updates within CMMS. Additionally, the candidate will provide status updates to asset owners, deliver customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, and work under limited direction while following general instructions for new assignments.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Knowledge of maintenance objectives and practices.
Experience adapting visual work into technical writing.
Knowledge of documentation quality assurance, including document controls and records management
Ability to follow and inform improvements in procedures, policies, and processes.
Knowledge of the Laboratory's security and safeguards policies, practices, and procedures.
Experience with maintenance tracking systems and overall procurement methods.
Experience and skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting operations and operational quality assurance.
Demonstrated experience working effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and changing priorities, and the ability to follow multiple tasks to completion.
Demonstrated experience in decision making, organizing, and prioritizing tasks, and taking initiative.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of internal and external personnel and customers; strong customer service and teaming skills.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Associate's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 4 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
An active Q clearance.
Experience with LANL security and safeguards policies and procedures.
Familiarity with Asset Suites and/or the Sigma Facility.
Knowledge of cybersecurity and compliance implications in multi-user, multi-platform, and secure computing environments.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
