VCA Animal Hospitals Assistant Hospital Manager in Loomis, California
VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic (https://vcahospitals.com/loomis-basin) is seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to join our team as an Assistant Hospital Manager .
The Assistant Hospital Manager (AHM) at VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic partners closely with the Hospital Administrator and Medical Director to support the daily operations of the hospital. This role plays a key part in fostering a positive hospital culture, ensuring operational efficiency, supporting team development, and delivering exceptional patient care and client service. The AHM serves as a visible leader, helping guide team members while maintaining alignment with VCA policies, standards, and values.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Leadership
Support the Hospital Administrator in overseeing day-to-day hospital operations to ensure smooth workflows and a high-quality client and patient experience
Serve as a leader and resource for all associates, directing them to appropriate channels as needed
Promote and model VCA’s culture of collaboration, compassion, and excellence
Address operational challenges proactively and escalate concerns as appropriate
Team Development & Engagement
Assist with hiring and onboarding of hospital team members, ensuring a smooth and hospitable process
Assist with team meetings and one-on-one coaching conversations as needed
Help resolve staff concerns or conflicts in a professional and constructive manner
Reinforce hospital standards, expectations, and accountability across all roles
Partner with Hospital Administrator to improve associate experience
Client Service & Experience
Support exceptional client service by addressing concerns, resolving issues, and reinforcing service standards
Assist with client communication initiatives and compliance with VCA programs (e.g., CareClub, preventive care plans, client education)
Participating in community outreach efforts when able
Financial & Administrative Support
Assist with hospital financial processes including daily deposits, cash handling, accounts receivable, and charge reconciliation
Support inventory management, ordering, and controlled substance compliance
Help monitor discounts and ensure appropriate documentation and usage
Maintain positive relationships with shelter partners, coordinating services, payment, and contracts
Work with hospital leaders to coordinate associate transfers, separations, and role changes
Maintain accurate records and ensure adherence to hospital protocols and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Previous experience in a veterinary hospital or healthcare environment preferred
Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced clinical setting
Professional demeanor with a positive, team-focused attitude
Commitment to high-quality patient care and outstanding client service

VCA Animal Hospitals offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, pet care discounts, paid vacation, holidays and sick days, health and well-being programs that provide resources and training. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The annual salary range for this position is $85,000 to $98,000
