Micron Technology, Inc. Staff Firmware Engineer - Backend NAND Flash Controller Team in Longmont, Colorado

As a Staff Firmware Engineer on our backend NAND Flash Controller Team, you will play a pivotal role in crafting high-performance controller firmware that redefines industry standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement firmware for advanced NAND flash controllers and Solid State Drives (SSD).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to compose, build, and test innovative firmware solutions.

  • Triage and debug issues, perform failure analysis, and file detailed bug reports.

  • Integrate firmware features with the latest NAND technology and backend ASIC HW architectures.

  • Lead and mentor engineers, encouraging a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related area.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded firmware development.

  • Proficiency in Python and other scripting languages.

  • Expertise with storage interfaces such as PCIe/NVMe, SATA, or SAS.

  • Proven ability to work independently and prioritize multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in the storage industry, particularly with SSDs and non-volatile storage technologies.

  • Knowledge of AI code development and analysis tools like Tabnine and Claude Code.

  • Previous technical leadership or supervisory experience.

  • Strong understanding of system and media architecture for NAND flash technology.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$127,000.00 - $269,000.00 a year

Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
