The Estee Lauder Companies Payroll Analyst in Long Island City, New York
Description
The Payroll Analyst supports the accurate and compliant execution of U.S. payroll operations within a managed service model. This role partners closely with ADP GlobalView, HR, Finance, and Benefits to validate payroll data, reconcile results, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Given the scale and complexity of the U.S. employee population, this role is critical to maintaining payroll accuracy, robust internal controls, and timely issue resolution.
U.S. Payroll Operations & Oversight
Support end-to-end U.S. payroll processing in partnership with ADP GlobalView, including gross-to-net validation and post-payroll review
Review payroll results for large, complex employee populations across multiple pay groups and pay frequencies
Analyze payroll variances, identify discrepancies, and perform root-cause analysis in coordination with ADP and internal teams
Support U.S. year-end activities, including W-2 processing, tax reconciliations, and regulatory filings
Data Management & Reconciliation
Perform detailed payroll reconciliations between HRIS data, ADP GlobalView payroll outputs, and Finance records
Utilize advanced Excel capabilities (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) to analyze large payroll datasets and identify trends, variances, and errors
Validate payroll elements, including earnings, deductions, benefits, taxes, and garnishments
Ensure employee changes are accurately reflected in payroll results
HRIS & Integration Support
Monitor and validate HRIS-to-ADP GlobalView data feeds, including hires, terminations, job changes, compensation updates, and time inputs
Partner with HR and Benefits teams to resolve data or configuration issues impacting payroll
Support testing related to payroll configuration changes, HRIS updates, or downstream integrations
Compliance, Controls & Audit Support
Ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
Support internal and external audits by preparing reconciliations, reports, and supporting documentation
Maintain strong payroll controls and data governance practices
Always ensure the confidentiality and security of payroll data
Stakeholder Support & Continuous Improvement
Serve as a key point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from HR, Finance, and Benefits partners
Work with ADP GlobalView to manage cases, escalations, and service-level commitments
Participate in payroll process improvements, reporting enhancements, and analytics initiatives
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Experience:
3–5 years of U.S. payroll experience supporting large employee populations
Experience working with ADP GlobalView or other enterprise payroll platforms in a managed service model
Payroll & Compliance Knowledge:
Strong understanding of U.S. payroll regulations, including federal, state, and local tax requirements
Experience with garnishments, benefits deductions, and year-end processing (W-2s)
Technical Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, data reconciliation)
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
Experience with SAP-based payroll or HRIS integrations
Experience supporting payroll audits or SOX-controlled environment
Exposure to payroll reporting and analytics in large, complex organizations
