Description
The Lead, Solution Architecture will design scalable, secure, and business-aligned technology solutions. Skilled at translating complex requirements into end-to-end architectures across cloud, data, and enterprise platforms. Trusted partner to business and engineering teams, balancing technical excellence, performance, and delivery speed supporting Global Manufacturing, Quality and IT/OT integration.
Reporting to the Director, Solution Architecture, who has a dotted-line relationship to the Global Technology Leader (PTL) for Manufacturing and Quality, this role works in close partnership and collaboration to translate manufacturing IT strategy into scalable, compliant, and high-impact digital solutions across global operations, while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design and Architecture
Lead solution architecture, design, and execution of digital solutions supporting Manufacturing, Quality and IT/OT integration
Design scalable, cloud-first and hybrid architectures that enable secure and reliable IT/OT connectivity
Own solution-level technical and functional decisions within architectural guardrails defined by enterprise and manufacturing IT leadership
Define, manage, and execute delivery milestones
Manufacturing, Quality & IT/OT Solution Architecture & Enablement
Define and enable IT/OT integration architectures connecting shop-floor systems (PLCs, SCADA, historians) with enterprise platforms (MES, QMS, cloud and analytics)
Architect and evolve platform-based solutions across MES, QMS, LIMS, historians, and connected factory technologies via Azure Cloud
Stakeholder Partnership
Serve as the primary IT partner for Manufacturing and Quality stakeholders, leading solution architecture and design in close collaboration with business and IT teams
Communicate architecture decisions and delivery outcomes through clear, concise, and executive-ready updates to IT and business leadership
Compliance, Security & Risk
Ensure solutions comply with regulatory, quality, cybersecurity and data integrity requirements
Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure secure, resilient IT/OT architectures
Team, Vendor & Solution Architecture Delivery
Provide architecture-led guidance and technical leadership to local operations and OT teams across ELC manufacturing sites, enabling effective execution of digital manufacturing initiatives.
Support roadmap-driven modernization of manufacturing technologies by advising on technical options, implementation sequencing, cost and timeline estimates, and vendor engagement
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
5+ years of relevant experience
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate solution architectures, technical designs, and decisions clearly to diverse, global audiences
Solid understanding of IT and IT/OT networking architectures, including segmentation, routing, security controls, and cloud integration patterns
Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles for industrial and IT/OT environments, including network security, access controls, and data protection
Practical exposure to manufacturing and industrial environments, with familiarity across common OT components (PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, vision systems, remote I/O), sufficient to inform solution design and integration decisions
Experience or strong working knowledge of industrial IoT and connected factory platforms (e.g., Azure IoT, Ignition, Factory Talk) supporting manufacturing use cases
Familiarity with modern application architectures, including containerized and modular solutions used for manufacturing data acquisition and analytics
Prior experience integrating industrial systems with higher-level platforms such as MES, SCADA, batch systems, AGV/automation platforms, or analytics solutions
