Position Overview
A well-established healthcare organization in Long Beach is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to support its sterile compounding operations. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the technician will play a critical role in the preparation and dispensing of IV medications, injectable therapies, and chemotherapy agents in a cleanroom environment. All work is performed in compliance with USP<797>and USP<800>standards.
Type : 6 Month contract (Possibility for extension) | Long Beach, CA · On-site | M–F, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and package sterile IV and injectable medications in a controlled cleanroom setting.
Compound chemotherapy and biohazardous drugs in accordance with institutional protocols and USP<797>/<800>standards.
Maintain proper garbing and cleanroom etiquette throughout shifts (approximately 5–6 hours of compounding per day).
Handle hazardous medications using full PPE (gowns, gloves, masks, etc.) per institutional policy.
Collaborate with pharmacy staff to ensure accurate, timely medication preparation.
Minimum Qualifications
Active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in good standing with the California Board of Pharmacy.
Minimum 1-year of hands-on pharmacy technician experience.
Familiarity with sterile compounding, IV preparation, or oncology pharmacy preferred.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary vocational/specialized pharmacy training or graduation from a foreign school of pharmacy also accepted.
