Starbucks product developer-beverage in London, United Kingdom
Hybrid working model: 50% in the office / 50% remote
Location: Chiswick Business Park, West London
This role supports Starbucks' success by planning, developing, and executing multiple projects for beverage initiatives and innovation in the EMEA region. As an individual contributor, you will interact with cross-functional teams within Starbucks EMEA, Global, and other regional teams. Ad hoc travel to suppliers and manufacturers, mainly in the UK and Europe, is required.
Here, you’ll achieve results by:
Innovation : Proactively gathers, analyses and maintains product and technology trend information and supports idea generation sessions to initiate creation of new beverage concepts and products (white space development) to support the EMEA beverage plan
Product Development: Designs and conducts table-top experiments and tests, including: -
Product prototypes
Initial Product yields
Product BOM and recipe cards
In-market testing to develop operational procedures (in conjunction with Central Operations)
Workload Planning: Assess product and project briefs to develop appropriate R&D response in-line with the Starbucks NPD / product life-cycle process. Create and communicate work plan with cross functional team.
Responsible for any relevant recipe work required for ad hoc sales driving activity or market specific product development / reformulation
Supplier Management: Create and communicate NPD supplier briefs, organising request for samples, provisional specifications, sample tracking and sample feedback in line with requested timelines. Maintain sample log and records.
Communication: Establishes, documents and presents key project information to business leaders ensuring progress to commercialisation and implementation consistent with project timelines. Manages the project information flow and updates cross-functional team, management and senior management where necessary.
Project Support : Lead the start-up and implementation of new product development. Prepares summaries and project reports. Consults on development of training materials with operations. Transitions the project to SCO and supplier Quality Assurance ready for full scale-up for launch. Supports on-going technical improvements up to and including launch.
Documentation: Maintains up to date product builds, BOMs and documentation relative to products developed and any intellectual property for all new development projects.
Here, you’ll thrive with:
Degree level (or equivalent) in a food science or related subject preferred or relevant industry experience.
Experience in either food/beverage retail or manufacturing. This experience should include product development, Innovation and/or menu development. With knowledge of process and specification development.
Able to work in a fast-moving environment, either on their own or cross-functionally
Excellent project management, communication and organisational skills
