Job Description

The HarperCollins non-trade team is looking for an enthusiastic new Key Account Manager to manage and grow our group list across all subscription box customers.

  • Forecast and manage yearly subs box budgets within the non-trade team.

  • Project manage all new subs box deals from acquisition through to delivery and publication, including cost negotiation and the full production process.

  • Act as the internal voice for subs box channels, including involvement in wider group acquisition negotiations, and feeding back customer insights / competitor activity.

  • Identify and win new subscription box partners - from pitching to contract and commercial terms negotiation.

  • Co-ordinate the full design process across both customers and divisional stakeholders.

  • Co-ordinate forecasting, stock allocation and replenishment with relevant inventory teams.

Key tasks and accountabilities

  • Delivery of sales revenue across subscription box accounts.

  • Build positive and constructive relationships with internal contacts across publishing teams and business managers.

  • Liaise with the customer service distribution team to ensure we maintain excellent order management and delivery processes.

  • Continue to educate the wider business on all aspects of this specific market, by increasing profile and presenting internally.

Your first six months

  • Build comprehensive knowledge across the HarperCollins list.

  • Maintain and continue to grow our account portfolio’s performance, developing strong relationships with key customer contacts.

  • Develop close working partnership with HarperCollins business functions, such as production and distribution, learning how they operate and aligning with customer requirements to offer excellent service.

Experience required

  • Experience of account management, ideally with specific subs box experience.

  • In-depth knowledge and passion for genre fiction, particularly the fantasy, romantasy and romance market.

  • A keen eye for subs box consumer trends, and genre trends across the market.

  • Significant experience and knowledge around the production process, from brief to supply.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of sales functions such as customer relationship management, margin calculation and profitability management.

  • Experience of working in a high performing sales environment, balancing priorities whilst displaying self-motivated approach and responsibility for high volume workload.
