Job Description
We are recruiting a 1st Line Risk Senior Manager, to implement, execute and manage risk for Columbia Threadneedle's Distribution business unit. You will ensure an integrated risk framework and strong control environment by leading the organisation in the proactive identification of risk, continuous control improvement and issue mitigation. You will lead a team responsible for risk event management, risk and controls identification, self-assessment and testing, risk reporting and governance for global business partners.
How you'll spend your time...
20%: Provide operational risk and controls thought leadership and expertise to the business unit. Lead the development of risk management strategies that drive identification, quantification and mitigation of risk within the business, while providing acute depth of knowledge and influence. Benchmark industry-wide data and act as a liaison with industry sources in the business on trends, best practices, issues, and concerns.
20%: Establish and lead a governance framework designed to monitor and ensure efficacy of operational risk management and process controls within the business unit Influence adoption of governance protocols and change controls across all regions and departments of the business unit. Implement reporting routines that ensure strong communication and interaction with all stakeholders including other Columbia Threadneedle Investments and Ameriprise risk partners.
20%: Identify high risk processes and controls and build out a testing program to ensure these processes and controls are reviewed and tested throughout the year. Where areas of enhancements are identified, work with the business to implement these changes and perform due diligence on the effectiveness of these processes and controls
15%: Be the point person for risk events as they occur in the business unit by helping to review and log such risk events in a timely manner. Work with the business on remediation and establish regular working group to track complex risk events. Assess if issues are corrected appropriately and controls/mitigation are put in place. Facilitate and lead crisis prevention sessions and post-follow-up.
15%: Provide oversight, guidance and leadership on KRI population and risk reporting to senior business forums. Ensure adequate governance of key risks by escalating risks and following up on decisions, where applicable. Working with the business to ensure breaches in KRIs are brought back within tolerances promptly. Lead the RCSA program for the respective business area by identifying inherent risks, control environment and residual risks.
10%: Participate in the Operational Resiliency program for in-scope legal entities. This includes identifying key metrics relating to Important Business Services, establishing service tolerances and performing scenario stress tests throughout the year on operational risk factors.
