Position Overview

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Landscape Architect Intern

 to assist in designing and maintaining outdoor environments for our residents. This internship provides hands-on experience in healthcare-focused landscape design, including therapeutic gardens, courtyards, and walking paths, with an emphasis on accessibility, safety, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and planning of therapeutic gardens, courtyards, walking paths, and shaded seating areas
  • Support planting plans tailored to senior residents, including low-maintenance and sensory-stimulating selections
  • Conduct site analysis, document existing conditions, and assist with drawings and renderings
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including facilities, nursing, and activities staff
  • Research best practices for dementia-friendly and ADA-compliant outdoor environments
  • Assist with cost estimates, material selection, and vendor coordination
  • Support sustainability initiatives such as native planting and water conservation

Qualifications

Required:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Landscape Architecture or related field
  • Basic knowledge of landscape design principles and plant materials
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred:

  • Interest in therapeutic/healing garden design
  • Knowledge of ADA accessibility standards
  • Experience with sustainable landscaping or horticulture
