Overview
The Digital Accessibility Coordinator (Program Coordinator I) supports the Digital Accessibility Officer by coordinating digital accessibility efforts across the university. This role assists with implementing accessibility best practices across a variety of platforms, including university video services, social media, learning management systems, and web content management systems. Through collaboration with faculty and staff, the Digital Accessibility Coordinator helps advance accessible digital content and supports institutional compliance with accessibility standards.
Responsibilities
Digital Accessibility Review and Remediation Support - 40%
Review and audit digital content (websites, documents, videos, and other media) for accessibility using a combination of automated tools and manual evaluation techniques.
Support remediation efforts by assisting with or advising on fixes for identified accessibility issues.
Apply accessibility standards and best practices across university platforms in collaboration with faculty, staff, and other partners.
Consultation, Outreach, and Training - 25%
Provide consultation and support to faculty and staff on digital accessibility questions and best practices.
Assist with outreach and training efforts to promote awareness of accessibility standards, resources, and best practices among faculty, staff, and student employees.
Compliance Support, Documentation, and Reporting - 20%
Support institutional compliance with accessibility policies and standards such as the Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Policy, the Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) Accessibility Standards, and the USU Video and Audio Accessibility Standard.
Assist in developing and maintaining documentation, workflows, and guidance related to digital accessibility processes.
Aid in creating and maintaining reports related to digital accessibility efforts, including tracking captioning usage and expenditures.
Collaborate with vendors and system administrators to support accessible digital platforms.
Content Inventory - 10%
Help identify, catalog, and update inventories of digital content, including documenting the departments or staff responsible for that content.
Maintain and update materials on the department website.
Special Projects - 5%
Assist with other special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree plus two years of related work experience; or a bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required. Relevant fields may include Special Education, Technical Communication, Information Technology, Computer Science, etc.
