Overview

The Department of Veterinary Clinical and Life Sciences (VCLS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Utah State University (USU) seeks candidates for an agricultural animal emphasis clinical assistant or associate professor faculty position. This is a 12-month (fiscal year) non-tenure track position that involves teaching and the delivery of clinical veterinary services (within the teaching role).  The successful candidate will contribute to the Teaching (95%) and Service (5%) missions of VCLS and the CVM. The preferred candidate will have an employment history that demonstrates proficiency in small ruminant (i.e., sheep and goat), bovine (beef and/or dairy), and/or equine medicine. The preferred candidate will have intimate knowledge and experience in agricultural animal production, medicine, and nutrition practices in the intermountain west.

The candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of veterinary professionals by delivering veterinary instruction in the new Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree curriculum. In this capacity, the candidate is also expected to develop and implement innovative teaching methodologies, assessment tools, and evaluation criteria to measure veterinary students' level of mastery as they progress through the academic program. The candidate will also contribute to other curriculum activities associated with their expertise.  As noted below, the position also includes a teaching role in the undergraduate degree curriculum in the Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences Department (ADVS) in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (AGNR), so this position has a joint appointment in VCLS/CVM and ADVS/AGNR.

The full-time position is eligible for excellent benefits, including paid holidays, 22 vacation days/year, a 50% undergraduate tuition reduction for employees and dependents, competitive health benefits packages, and a generous contribution to retirement. In addition, up to 4 days/month may be used for consulting work. View more information here: Summary of Benefits 2024-2025
