Overview
Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter is seeking driven teens to work as camp counselors during Summer Camp 2026. Camp Counselor IIs will assist with daily summer camp activities and functions for 40 camps offered from June - August that take place both on the Swaner Preserve and in the EcoCenter. Teens will help to provide meaningful nature-based camp experiences for youth entering Kindergarten through 4th grade in half-day week-long camps.
This position is intended for teens who are entering 9th through 12th grade in Fall 2026 and 2026 high school graduates. Camp Counselor IIs must commit to at least three weeks of work at Swaner June - August and attend a mandatory counselor training prior beginning work.
This position will help teens develop leadership skills, gain experience teaching and leading youth, meet other motivated and goal-oriented teens, foster workplace skills, and build their resume and references for future jobs and applications.

Responsibilities
Complete hiring paperwork and mandatory training in timely manner.
Help with set up and clean up of camp each day, including preparing supplies, arranging classroom, reviewing curriculum, cleaning, etc.
Greet campers upon arrival and help them feel comfortable at camp; keep campers engaged throughout program.
Lead small group activities with instruction.
Play age-appropriate games with campers, as directed by camp lead.
Ensure camp is a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for all campers.
Act as role models for campers and other counselors.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification
Must be at least 14 years old.
Must be entering 9th-12th grades in Fall 2026, or have graduated from high school in Spring 2026.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability and desire to work with youth, other teens, and adults.
Strong work ethic and sense of responsibility.
Good verbal communication skills.
Must be able to help with both outdoor and indoor activities, including (but not limited to) hiking, wading in streams and ponds, walking on uneven ground, games, crafts, and indoor activities.
