Overview
The Utah State University Physics Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in experimental photonics. Research areas of interest include-but are not limited to-experimental photonics for quantum and classical computing, sensing and communication.
Responsibilities
Developing a nationally recognized, externally-funded research program that supports both the department's graduate program and undergraduate research.
High quality teaching is expected, including support and further development of the department's Photonics Certificates programs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in physics or a closely related field and experience in experimental photonics research.

The Physics Department has a diverse research portfolio in experimental, observational, computational, and theoretical physics that is supported by 17 faculty members, 70 undergraduate majors, and 20 graduate students. Current experimental activities include nanoscale structures relevant to electronics and photonics devices, optical characterization of nanoscale heat transfer, physics of materials, and remote sensing of the near-space upper atmosphere.
