Amergis American Sign Language Interpreter in Lodi, California

Seeking to hire two (2) Educational American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters for California school!

Location: Lodi & Stockton, California

Schedule: Full-Time

Start Date: July 27, 2026 and through the 2026–2027 School Year)

Compensation: $1,575 gross weekly

Position Overview

We are seeking qualified Educational American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters to support K–12 students for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year. These full-time positions will provide classroom interpreting and communication access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students throughout the Lodi and Stockton regions.

Applicants must meet California’s credentialing and skill-verification standards and have prior experience providing interpreting services in a school setting.

Education & Certification Requirements (California)

California regulations require that educational interpreters meet state-approved qualifications including certification or assessment-based skill verification.

Certification / Skill Verification Requirements

California requires one of the following pathways:

  1. RID Certification (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf)
  • Full RID certification satisfies state requirements.

  1. EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment)
  • If not RID-certified, interpreters must have an EIPA score of 4.0 or higher.

Note: Earlier versions of regulations listed 3.0 or 3.5 minimums, but current standards require 4.0+, confirmed by both the California Code of Regulations and NAIE.

  1. Equivalent Assessments

If not using EIPA or RID:

  • ESSE-I/R score of 4.0+, or

  • NAD/ACCI Level IV or above

  1. For Cued Language Interpreters (if applicable)
  • TECUnit certification, or

  • EIPA–Cued Speech score of 4.0+

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct ASL interpreting for students in classrooms, school activities, meetings, and extracurricular settings.

  • Facilitate communication between DHH students, staff, and peers.

  • Follow student IEP requirements and collaborate with Special Education teams.

  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and educational ethics.

Qualifications

  • Strong ASL/English interpreting skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in dynamic educational environments.

  • Must meet one of the certification/assessment standards listed above.

  • Must have documented school-based interpreting experience.
