What Success Looks Like In This Job
The Education Supervisor is responsible for managing, organizing, coordinating, and directing the
essential functions of assigned sites. This role ensures the consistent implementation of high-quality
early childhood education services in compliance with state requirements, program policies, rules,
and regulations. The Education Supervisor provides teachers, teacher assistants, and classroom aides
with ongoing observation, feedback, coaching, mentoring, and supervision to support
developmentally appropriate teaching practices and continuous professional growth.
Examples of Duties for Success
• Oversee assigned site(s) compliance and staff implementation of Head Start Performance
Standards, childcare licensing requirements, the Early Learning Outcomes Framework, and all
program policies and procedures, including coaching, corrective action, and performance
accountability as needed.
• The Education Supervisor in collaboration with and under the direction of the Education
Manager is responsible for managing, organizing, coordinating, and directing the essential
functions of assigned sites.
• Lead the use of data and reporting systems by analyzing and interpreting information from
internal systems and external platforms to support program operations, compliance, and guide
continuous quality improvement.
• Observe, monitor, and follow up with education staff using multiple assessment and
observation tools to identify needs for coaching, mentoring, technical assistance, and
professional development.
• Provide ongoing coaching and reflective supervision to support staff professional growth,
instructional quality, and effective classroom management.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Plans;
support staff in planning developmentally appropriate activities and ensuring individualized
instruction for all children.
• Oversee and support the implementation of curricula, assessment platforms, and instructional
practices, including Creative Curriculum, Incredible Years, Zoo Phonics, and Teaching Strategies
GOLD, ensuring lesson planning, classroom implementation, curriculum fidelity, and alignment
with program goals, assessment requirements, and embedded CLASS and TPOT indicators.
• Oversee positive discipline practices are consistently implemented in all classrooms, and
supervision of children is always maintained as the highest priority.
• Provide supervisory oversight of assigned site(s) to ensure classrooms, facilities, and operations
meet health, safety, and licensing requirements, including review and documentation of
required safety checks and drills.
• Collaborate with program leadership and cross-functional teams to support staff performance
and program effectiveness for children and families.
• Oversee classroom routines, including family-style meals, to ensure alignment with the best
developmental practices and medical and nutritional requirements.
• Lead and participate in required meetings, training(s), and professional development activities
to ensure consistent implementation of education services.
• Ensure compliance with professional development requirements, including required
competencies and certifications for the position.
• Oversee staffing coverage and teacher-child ratios in accordance with state licensing
requirements across all Head Start sites.
• Ensure timely completion of reports and effective communication with leadership and respond
to concerns and inquiries professionally and promptly.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and professional work environment that attracts, retains, and
motivates staff to effectively serve children and families.
• Accept temporary work assignments within Adams County as needed to support staffing needs,
center flexibility, or role coverage.
• Always maintain confidentiality and adhere to the program’s employee standards of conduct.
Qualifications for Success
• Supervisory experience and demonstrated knowledge of early childhood education, child
development theory, and Head Start program operations, services, and activities.
• Knowledge of and ability to implement early childhood curricula and consistently apply positive
discipline practices.
• Ability to provide effective training, coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance to staff and
parents regarding educational programs and issues.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and a professional, positive
attitude and appearance.
• Ability to establish, maintain, and promote a respectful, collaborative work environment and
open, honest, and professional communication that supports staff retention and high-quality
services for children and families.
• Demonstrate skills in record keeping, report writing, and clear, concise oral and written
communication, including proper English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and
program-related software.
• Demonstrate alignment with County norms and values, with a strong commitment to service
excellence and exceeding customer service expectations.
More Qualifications for Success
Experience:
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in early childhood education or child development, including at least two (2) years of experience in teaching and curriculum planning.
Minimum of two (2) years of supervision experience.
Education and Training:
Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
OR Bachelor of Arts degree withmajor course work in early childhood educationor related field from an accredited college or university with major course work in early childhood education .
License or Certificate:
Director certification or level six (6) on Colorado Shines PDIS
Valid Colorado Driver's License and Proof of vehicle insurance
A Motor Vehicle record check will be conducted
Ability to obtain Class Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) Certification
Ability to obtain Teaching Pyramid Observation Tool (TPOT) Certification
Ability to obtain Preschool Interrater Reliability Certification
Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification
Ability to obtain a medication administration certificate
Background Check:
Ability to pass multiple criminal backgrounds and Central Registry checks
A fingerprint check may be conducted
A Motor Vehicle record check will be conducted
Other:
Must complete physical examination and TB test upon hire
Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, and climb
