Rhino Assembly Corporation CNC Process Engineer in Livonia, Michigan
The Process Engineer is responsible for designing, improving, and implementing manufacturing processes that ensure quality, efficiency, and repeatability. This role combines hands-on CNC programming with process engineering to support machining operations, new product introductions, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, analytical thinking, and experience optimizing CNC workflows and machining strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Knowledge to program, set up, &operateCNCequipmentincludingVMC's (Vertical Machining Centers/ Mills),CNCLatheswith sub-spindle& live tooling,CNC RouterTable, CNC Plasma Table, CNC Laser Table, and othermulti-axis machines to produce components per specifications.
- Develop, implement, andoptimizemanufacturing processes to improve quality, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
- Analyze production workflows andidentifyopportunities to enhance throughput, reduce cycle times, and improve repeatability.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product development and introduction.
- Create,modify, andoptimizeCNC programs using CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
- Work with machinists tovalidateprograms,identifyimprovements, and troubleshoot machining challenges.
- Design and specify tooling, fixtures, and work-holding solutions to support efficient machining operations.
- Validate machining processes through first-article inspections and capability studies.
- Assistwith machine setup, process validation, and technical training for operators as needed.
- Develop andmaintaindetailed work instructions, setup sheets, and process documentation.
- Ensure processes meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze production data tomaintainprocess control and support root cause analysis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates/Bachelor'sdegree, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field OR equivalent technical experience. 2+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environmentis a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or CNC machining/programming.
- Proficiencywith CAD/CAM software for CNC programming.
- Strong understanding of machining concepts, toolselection, feeds/speeds, and GD&T.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience analyzing manufacturing data.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience withHAAS(highly preferred),FANUC, Siemens, or Mazak controls.
- CAD/CAM programming experiencesuch asMastercam(highly preferred),Lincoln ElectricTorchmateCAD/CAM(highly preferred),ESPRIT,Fusion 360, etc.
- Experience in a tooling, automation, or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Certification or technical training in machining or advanced manufacturing.
- Background in automation, tooling solutions, or custom manufacturing systems.
- Lean/Six Sigma training or certification.
- Experience designing fixtures or tooling using CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to spend time on the shop floor around machinery and production environments.
Ability tolift upto 35 lbs. occasionally.
