Day to Day

As a Software Engineer II on the Permissions and Access Control (PAC) team, you will design and build software that powers Indeed’s authorization and access-management platforms. You’ll work on critical path systems for employer and internal workflows, operating at significant scale and strict reliability expectations.

In this role, you’ll contribute to technical design decisions, participate in design and code reviews, and use data and analytics to inform your work. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers and product partners across PAC and client teams to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions, while deepening your technical expertise in distributed systems, security-sensitive services, and access control.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, performant, and reliable services and UIs that provide authorization and permissions capabilities to product teams across Indeed

  • Contribute to system architecture and technical design for PAC services and front ends, validating solutions using metrics, logs, and experimentation where appropriate

  • Participate in code reviews and design reviews to uphold high engineering standards for correctness, security, accessibility, and maintainability

  • Own and support PAC applications in production, ensuring system health, resilience, and clear communication when issues arise

  • Make data-informed decisions using Datadog dashboards, logging, tracing, and analytics tools to improve latency, reliability, and cloud cost for permission checks

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners and contribute to projects spanning multiple services or teams, including parity rollouts, new integrations, and platform-wide authorization improvements

  • Mentor and support the growth of other engineers through feedback, documentation, and knowledge sharing on PAC concepts and systems

Skills/Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience

  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages and frameworks, such as Java or Kotlin for services and React/TypeScript for web applications.

  • Experience building and operating large-scale, high-performance, and resilient systems.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English, with the ability to work effectively across teams.

  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.

Salary Range Transparency

Tier 1 - United States of America 100,000 - 150,000 USD per year

Tier 2 - United States of America 111,000 - 167,000 USD per year

Tier 3 - United States of America 122,000 - 184,000 USD per year

Tier 4 - N/A

Tier 5 - United States of America 140,000 - 210,000 USD per year
