RxBenefits Manager, Data Engineering in Little Rock, Arkansas

The Data Engineering Manager plays a vital role within the Data Team serving as the liaison between the business and product stakeholders and the back-end data engineering team. The individual in this role is responsible for managing the team, guiding specific projects, as well as ensuring delivery of quality data and solutions. This role has an excellent understanding of the business, its operational processes, and the role data serves in making vital business decisions. The DE Manager provides a high degree of coordination between business users, other IT teams, Data Architects, and Data Engineers to ensure accurate and complete data is made available in a timely manner.

Essential Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Manages a team of data professionals in the execution of our database administration and data engineering (ingestion) functions.

  • Responsible for team planning, strategy, and deliverables.

  • The Data Engineering Manager is a people manager. The Manager sets goals, evaluates progress and coaches the members of the Database Administration and Data Engineering teams.

  • Coordinates with the Data Architect and Data Engineer in understanding data requirements for specific projects.

  • Manages the team effort to develop and implement QA methodologies, processes, and documentation for validating the data pipeline.

  • Ensure a focus on accuracy of data between the Enterprise Data Warehouse and source systems.

  • Responsible for issues occurring with the data pipeline and prioritize focus accordingly

  • Interface with other IT Teams such as Business Intelligence and Application development to determine the impact of changes and needs in their respective areas.

  • Leads the team to ensure documentation of terminology and data models are published to other parts of the business.

  • Ensure the delivery of release notes and status reports.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience leading and managing a Data Engineer, DBA, or other relevant Data role.

  • Experience interfacing with internal/external customers.

  • Experience managing an ETL or data ingestion tools (Rivery, FiveTran, or Informatica)

  • DWaaS platform (Snowflake preferred, Redshift) experience with user role, storage, and warehouse management.

  • AWS experience with S3, Aurora, and EC2 technologies.

  • Experience managing multiple database technologies (MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB)

  • Familiar with adhering to security and compliance regulations (HIPAA, HITRUST, ISO27001)

  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts, virtualization, and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) platforms

  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation technologies and how they interact with CI/CD processes overall.

  • Experience with automation scripting languages and tools (Terraform, Ansible, Python, Powershell, etc.)

  • Experience in writing and tracking software defects and compiling release documentation.

  • Experience leading/managing projects.

  • Exceptional analytic thinker and problem solver.

  • Ability to adjust to competing or shifting priorities as needed.

  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to report business impact to the lay person and be persuasive in recommending solutions to a technical audience.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field of study preferred.

  • Experience in healthcare/benefit management systems is a strong plus.

Based on relevant market data and other factors, the anticipated hiring range for this role is $152,200 - $190,000 annually. Final compensation rates will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, and internal equity considerations. This role is also short-term incentive eligible. Incentive amounts will vary by individual and business goals.
