Position Purpose
The Electronics Engineer will be responsible for designing custom multilayer PCBs for TAIT’s products and standard technology solutions. They will work on PCBs for a wide variety of products including rack-mounted electrical power and control products, hoist & winch machinery conversions, control consoles, and related system elements. They will also spend a proportion of their time helping to maintain and support existing products – we love continuous improvement!
Essential Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Detailed design of the electronic (PCB) elements of our products from concept generation, through prototype phases, to volume manufacture.
Generate creative design solutions based on sound engineering principles, making intelligent use of proven methods to reduce technical risk.
Produce clear and accurate design documents, e.g. schematics, Gerber files, bills of materials, manufacturing information.
Build strong relationships within the Product Engineering team and across TAIT, taking a collaborative approach to new product design and development, drawing on your experience and learning from others.
Coordinate with Purchasing team to provide technical input into the procurement process, engaging directly with external suppliers when required to ensure the manufacturability, quality and value of our custom designs.
Get hands on with prototype assembly and modification, bringing up and proving your own designs.
Maintain a working knowledge of applicable technical standards, creating and compiling the relevant design documentation to support CE marking, UL certification, and other regulatory requirements.
Support the ongoing production of existing products; fault finding, managing obsolescence, and updating legacy designs as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Degree-level qualification in Electronic Engineering or similar, or equivalent practical experience
2+ years' experience (with degree)
4+ years' experience (with equivalent practical experience)
Practical digital and analogue electronics design experience including embedded control (e.g. ARM) and high-speed circuitry (e.g. PCI bus, Gigabit Ethernet).
Proficiency at using a PCB design package (preferably Altium) to create schematics, layouts, and associated design files
Comfortable with 3D design in your chosen PCB design package, and happy interfacing with Inventor to ensure your designs fit in the overall product design
Hands-on prototyping skills, and a desire to help get your designs “off the page”
Awareness of 3-phase power, induction and servo motors, variable speed drives, PLCs and associated switchgear
Knowledge of applicable electrical safety, EMC, and IPC standards.
Previous exposure to the entertainment industry is a plus

The employee regularly operates a computer, including typing, using a mouse or keyboard, and viewing the screen for extended periods. While the role does not require regular lifting or physical exertion, there may be occasional onboarding programs or training opportunities that create opportunities for more exposure to physical tasks or new environments (sites, venues, etc.).

Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions
Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes, safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, safety toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location
Must able to view and complete project work on a computer monitor or equipment screens for extended periods of time
