Position Purpose
The Director, Continuous Improvement (CI) is responsible for personally leading and delivering continuous improvement projects that drive measurable financial and operational results across a hybrid services, manufacturing, and project-based entertainment organization. The Director is accountable for delivering $1M–$2M in validated annual savings, initially as an individual contributor, with the expectation of building and leading a small CI team over time.
Essential Responsibilities
Identify and prioritize enterprise-level improvement opportunities aligned with business strategy, operational risk, and margin improvement
Focus CI effort on the highest-value value streams across manufacturing, services, and project delivery
Balance long-term, cross-functional initiatives with short-cycle improvement projects that deliver rapid results
Partner with senior leadership to align CI priorities with operational and financial goals
Personally lead and execute continuous improvement projects across:
Manufacturing and fabrication operations
Project-based and custom-build environments
Field services, installation, and support functions
Engineering, planning, and operational support teams
Lead value stream mapping, kaizen events, root cause analysis, standard work development, and process redesign
Drive improvements in labor efficiency, material usage, rework reduction, schedule adherence, and throughput
Ensure each project has a clear scope, owner, timeline, and measurable financial impact
$1M–$2M in annual, validated cost savings or margin improvement through CI initiatives
Build and maintain a balanced savings pipeline that includes:
Near-term, finite projects delivering results in weeks or months
Larger, enterprise initiatives delivering sustained impact over time
Partner with Finance to define, validate, and report savings consistently
People Management / Leadership Responsibilities:
Coach leaders and teams in Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving through hands-on project work
Develop internal CI capability while avoiding over-reliance on a centralized CI function
Over time, build and lead a small team of CI practitioners, setting standards for project selection, execution, and results
Transition from primarily individual contributor work to a player-coach model as the CI function matures
Apply CI in a way that supports creative speed, flexibility, and custom work, without unnecessary bureaucracy
Standardize processes where it improves flow, quality, and predictability, while preserving creative differentiation
Serve as a pragmatic problem-solver who can work effectively across creative, technical, and operational teams
Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred)
10+ years of experience leading continuous improvement or operational excellence initiatives
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt required; Master Black Belt preferred
Proven track record of personally delivering measurable CI results, including seven-figure annual savings
Experience working across both manufacturing and service/project-based environments
Strong hands-on expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and structured problem-solving
Ability to operate independently while influencing at all organizational levels
Ability to travel up to 10% internationally
Preferred Qualifications
Entertainment, live events, experiential, themed environments, or custom fabrication industries
Engineer-to-order or highly customized production environments
Leading CI efforts in fast-paced, deadline-driven organizations
Building or scaling a CI function from the ground up
