Job Description

The Parks Worker is responsible for performing manual labor by maintaining and repairing Koronis Regional Park infrastructure. Responsibilities may include operating light and medium equipment for the maintenance of county property; and performing manual labor to maintain parks and facilities.

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Operates light/medium equipment, including mowers, compact tractors, utility vehicles, trimmers, chainsaws, power tools, and truck and trailers to maintain assigned facilities and grounds or transport materials to assigned locations.

Performs manual labor to maintain park, campground, roads, and campsites, to include cleaning and stocking restrooms, shelters, shops, and other assigned areas; painting, staining, sealing, repairing, shoveling, installing, and/or removing assigned structures or equipment, tree/chainsaw work, trail work, landscaping, carpentry, plumbing; and cutting and splitting firewood.

Performs routine vehicle or facility maintenance operations, to include washing vehicles, changing oil, maintaining fluid levels, structural repairs, spraying chemicals, changing/sharpening mower blades, belt replacement, parts replacement, mechanical work, sharpening chainsaw chains, posting reservation signs

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Education and/or Experience

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or G.E.D.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:

Incumbents in this class typically require:

· Minnesota Class D Driver's License.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

· Basic maintenance principles;

· Knowledge and ability to operate various light and medium equipment;

· Chainsaw operation;

· Equipment maintenance and repair principles and practices;

· Herbicide and pesticide techniques;

· General maintenance concepts;

· Basic mathematical concepts;

· Applicable tools and equipment;

· Safe working practices;

· Safe driving practices;

· Customer service principles;

· Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment;

· Modern office technology.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

· Performing manual labor;

· Performing basic mathematical calculations;

· Operating light and medium equipment;

· Operating small hand and power tools, chainsaws and other related equipment;

· Performing routine maintenance and repair activities;

· Providing customer service;

· Ability to efficiently work alone and with others;

· Utilizing technology and relevant programs;

· Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions, such as, mechanical parts, electrical currents, and vibrations; hazardous materials, such as chemicals, blood, and other bodily fluids; extreme temperatures; and intense noise.

2026 Pay Range: $18.73-$25.17

Seasonal PT & FT positions accrue sick time based on a pro-rated amount.
