International Export Compliance Manager in Lisle, Illinois
Position Overview
International Motors is seeking an Export Compliance Manager to support all aspects of U.S. export compliance, and as required, the export regulations of other countries. This vital role support primarily U.S. locations, but also a comparatively small volume of exports out of Mexico and Canada, as well as substantial deemed exports between the U.S., Europe, South America, and Asia.
The Export Compliance Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day export compliance activities and supporting the company’s export compliance program to ensure adherence to applicable export control regulations and economic sanctions. This role focuses on the operational execution of export control requirements, managing product classification, export licensing, restricted party screening oversight, and monitoring regulatory developments. In addition, the position oversees key export operations processes to ensure compliant execution of export transactions. This includes coordination with freight forwarders, oversight of export filings, support for U.S. export documentation requirements, and maintaining export recordkeeping in accordance with regulatory standards. The Export Compliance Manager also develops and monitoring dashboards and KPIs to track compliance performance, standardizes procedures and best practices, support internal export requests and provides training and guidance to internal teams. The role also contributes with cross-functional brands across the organization to support due diligence processes, strengthen compliance controls, and drive continuous improvement of the export compliance program.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day export control activities to ensure compliance with applicable export regulations and sanctions requirements.
Support export licensing activities and products, equipment, and technology classifications in accordance with export control regulations.
Monitor regulatory developments and support the implementation of compliance policies and procedures.
Oversee restricted party screening activities and coordinate escalation of potential compliance concerns.
Manage export operations, including coordination with freight forwarders and oversight of export transactions.
Review export filings (e.g., AES filings) to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Support U.S. export documentation requirements and maintain compliant export recordkeeping practices.
Assist with export compliance audits and support corrective actions when needed.
Provide guidance and training for various functional areas, expats, inpats, and third parties on export compliance procedures and requirements.
Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across the group to support consistent export compliance practices.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of import/export administration experience
OR
- Master's degree and at least 4 years of import/export administration experience
OR
- At least 8 years of import/export administration experience
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
Bachelor’s degree in business, International Trade, or related field and/or
5+ to 7+ years of export control experience, export operational and trade compliance.
Up-to-date and strong knowledge of EAR and OFAC regulations, AES requirements, Incoterms, the HTSUS, the Schedule B, Customs regulations, and shipping procedures. Automotive and encryption experience are a plus.
Ability to interpret complex regulations
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
Proactive, well-organized, ability to learn quickly, and manage and prioritize multiple complex tasks.
Sound judgement and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Experience in an international environment, or global headquarters or export consulting areas
Experience leading teams, projects, or cross‑functional initiatives.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced global environment.
Certifications like Certified Export Compliance Professional (CECP) or other regulatory credentials are a plus.

Salary Minimum: USD $101,600.00/Yr.
Salary Maximum: USD $152,400.00/Yr.
