Aerotek Powder Coater in Lincoln, Nebraska

*Powder Coater - $20/hour - Start ASAP*

The Powder Coater uses a powder coating gun to apply powder coat material to a variety of metal parts in a clean, modern fabrication shop. This role involves working at different heights, carefully coating each part to specification, and supporting general labor and mechanical assembly tasks as needed. The position suits someone who enjoys hands-on production work, can work independently, and is comfortable with consistent physical activity throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Use a powder coating gun to spray powder coat material onto metal parts according to established procedures and quality standards.

  • Prepare and hang metal parts at heights ranging from approximately 5 feet above the floor to about 8 inches off the ground to ensure full coverage during coating.

  • Move up and down, including standing, crouching, and bending, to effectively spray and coat the entire surface of each part.

  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand part specifications, coating requirements, and assembly details.

  • Use a tape measure accurately to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet required measurements before and after coating.

  • Perform general labor duties, including material handling, organizing parts, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.

  • Support mechanical assembly tasks using hand tools and power tools as needed in the assembly department.

  • Operate basic production and sheet metal-related equipment as required, following all safety guidelines.

  • Work independently to manage daily tasks, prioritize workload, and meet production schedules.

  • Inspect coated parts for coverage, quality, and adherence to specifications, and make adjustments to technique as needed.

  • Follow all safety procedures related to powder coating, tools, and shop equipment, and report any issues or hazards promptly.

  • Collaborate with team members in the fabrication and assembly areas to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of orders.

Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 6 months of experience working in a production environment.

  • At least 6 months of experience using power tools in a work setting.

  • Ability to use a powder coating gun to apply powder coat material to metal parts or strong aptitude for similar spray or coating tools.

  • Ability to stand, crouch, and bend consistently throughout the shift while using the powder coat gun.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to understand part and coating requirements.

  • Ability to easily and accurately read a tape measure for verifying dimensions.

  • Experience with general labor and mechanical assembly tasks in a shop or production environment.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage tasks efficiently.

  • Comfort working with hand tools and power tools in a fabrication or assembly setting.

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure complete and accurate coating of all metal surfaces.

  • At least 6 months of experience as a technician or service technician.

  • At least 6 months of experience as a farm hand, demonstrating comfort with physical, hands-on work.

  • At least 6 months of experience as a machine operator in a production or manufacturing environment.

  • Experience working with sheet metal machines for fabrication or finishing tasks.

  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with mechanical assembly processes.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality standards.

  • Strong work ethic and reliability, with a focus on meeting production goals and deadlines.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
